Two months ago, the Texas Longhorns looked like they’d have a chance to be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. If things go right for them this weekend, they’ll have a chance to knock one off.
The Longhorns received a No. 8 seed in the East Region and will play ninth-seeded Wake Forest on Thursday in New Orleans. The winner of that game likely will get a chance at top-seeded Kentucky, which plays East Tennessee State in the first round.
The Longhorns are making their 12th NCAA tournament appearance in a row, the fourth-longest streak in the country. They played in New Orleans in the 2003 Final Four, losing to eventual national champion Syracuse.
